These guys saved our holiday! Our house battery bank failed while we were at Whangaruru. A quick call to Dean to check they had suitable batteries and we were on our way around Cape Brett and into Opua late in the day. Leo and Radar were at the boat first thing the next morning as promised, new batteries fitted and an hour and a half later we were on our way. And the invoice was very reasonable too!

We pulled into the Bay Of Islands marina on our catamaran and had trouble docking in the because our bow thruster batteries were dead. Fortunately, there are dozens of marine contractors adjacent to the marina and one of them is called Marine electrics and they specialize in all things electrical for the boat. A simple WhatsApp call and the next day I had my batteries delivered and lifted onto the boat. Dean and the staff were excellent, courteous and friendly as heck. It’s really nice to have good vendors when you’re traveling

Highly recommended. We had a dodgy cable that was failing intermittently, so we weren't sure whether it was a battery or an alternator issue. After a residential electrician inspected the boat, we got a new battery (not needed). Then the cable totally failed when out on the water. After an excellent 'rescue' from the coast guard, Marine Electronics Opua squeezed us in for a repair. They figured out the issue before we even got there! We were back on the water, keeping the kids happy, the same day. Our key learning: if it's a boat, only have it checked/serviced by a marine electrician. Great help and team effort from Marine Electrics Opua - we'll be back for some preventative maintenance! Cheers

We would highly recommend Marine Electrics Opua to all boat owners. Dean and his team were amazing at fixing and solving our electrical issues on our new boat Ella Ella. They helped with fixing our hot water system, supplying and installing a TV, new powerpoints, boat power cord adapter, helped with our battery system and installing and programming a new Cerbo, helped with reprogramming our Epirb and AIS. All completed within a short timeframe.
Amazing people behind this business. I've purchased 4 Victron Lifepo4 batteries with BMS ,Lynx, MPPT's, 2x SOK and Multiplus Inverter Charger. Dean has exceeded expectations and personally ensured that items arrived on time by driving long hours and picking up items by himself. He provided the "final audit" for our OceanVolt installation so we can safely start up the 48V system. There were small bits and pieces missing to complete our installation and he managed to get them super fast and dropped on our boat. Finally, there was a warranty claim in Tonga Vava'u and he negotiated with the provider not only free shipping but also a better solution/ product. Amazing, feels like family driven business focused on customer satisfaction and getting the job done. Highly recommended for bigger projects like energy banks for electric propulsion as well smaller installations and upgrades.

Dean and his staff were superb helping us with splicing, new inverter, cables and sourcing electrical parts for our sailboat. Dean was informative and very patient with me as I visited his shop with electrical questions. See Marine Electrics Opua for electronic needs.
Dean is superb - great knowledge, super creative problem-solving, can-do attitude and excellent access to parts, can get most anything delivered in record time! We had a VHF transmission issue, and Dean's team quickly diagnosed radio was fine and likely masthead antenna was the issue. Dean suggested the perfect new antenna for our crowded masthead, and we are now back to excellent transmission. Dean has also sourced a range of other components for us including for our Raymarine system. It looks like he also has a wide range of power solutions to offer, we have not had direct experience of it as have not needed that, but others we spoke with have been very happy with what they got from Dean in that area.
The professionalism of Dean and his team including Leo and Anwar has been a standout for me. They managed to solve an electrical problem I have had for 2 years which other electricians had looked at but not resolved. They are prepared to listen, ask questions and then implement a solution quickly and efficiently.
Great service and Dean will find stuff for you if he doesn't have it. His electricians do a great job.

Outstanding customer service. We limped into Opua with a dead battery bank (three 8G8D gels), and they had a replacement set delivered from Auckland, installed, and our electrical system all checked out in just a couple of days. Very friendly and helpful all the way around. If and when I need more electrical work on our boat, I'll make the trip up from our berth at Marsden Cove to do so!!
Had a great experience with Dean and his crew. I am especially pleased with the step down transformer that allows me use 240 volt shore power on my 120 volt boat. Yeah!

Awesome service. We needed a JD engine alternator this week - our got cooled just before we turned left for Australia! Circa Marine, JDeere Whangarei and The Engine Room Auckland could not find one in Whangarei or Australia. Dean Peters found me the correct one in Auckland I had it in my hand the next day. Awesome service. A true relief after the rubbish service I have been getting from Whangarei. Similar situation the day before when I needed a blue sea switch. Seems Opua is the marine source of NZ.
